Teeth Whitening Q&A

Will my purchase come in the original retail packaging?

All of our products come in the original retail packaging except for the options of loose strips. We are aware of fake products on the market and we want to ensure that all of our customers can order with 100% confidence.

We want our customers to feel safe when applying a teeth whitening product that they have purchased from ourselves, you can rest assured that all of our products are 100% genuine and only manufactured by the official manufacturer.

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter. Teeth whitening can’t make your teeth brilliant white, but it can lighten the existing colour by several shades. All the information we have used on this site is taken directly from the the manufactures.

Will teeth whitening work on false teeth / dentures?

The way whitening strips work is through peroxide. It penetrates the tooth structure, to clean the teeth. This can’t happen with dentures, since they’re made out of plastic or porcelain. The strips also will not bleach crowns, caps, or fillings.

What happens during teeth whitening at the dentist?

The difference between whitening strips and dentist treatments is the whitening strips are the same strength with the same chemicals used they just simply come out of a packet, stick onto your teeth and after an hour you take them off and throw them away. With dentist teeth whitening you need to have a gum shield made that fits your teeth this can take up to a few weeks to be made.

Once that is done you then purchase some whitening gel that you will put into your gum shields and usually wear it whilst you sleep. You then have to thoroughly clean the gum shield dry it out and make sure all the old gel is removed before using it again. This can cost anything up to around £500 for a few weeks treatment. The results are the same you just pay a lot more if you don’t use the whitening strips.

They are less hassle, just as strong, same results and cost around £450 less for the same length of treatment.

What are the risks of non CE approved home kits and salon teeth whitening?
Some home kits don’t contain enough of the whitening product to be effective. More generally, if a dental professional is not doing the whitening, the mouthguard provided may not fit properly so some of the bleaching gel may leak out onto your gums and into your mouth, causing blistering and sensitivity.

Where teeth whitening is carried out in beauty salons by staff without any training or dental qualifications it not only carries a risk to your oral health, but is also illegal.

Is teeth whitening permanent?

No, teeth whitening isn’t permanent. It can last from a few months to up to three years, but this varies from person to person. Generally, the whitening effect won’t last as long if you smoke or drink red wine, tea or coffee, which can all stain your teeth.

What are the risks of teeth whitening?

No matter what treatment you use, there is a chance your gums can be sensitive to the chemicals used in teeth whitening, especially if you already have sensitive teeth. There’s also a chance of burns to gums and some of the whitening kits used at home can harm tooth enamel.
